as founders its easy to fall into fallacies.
1. When Things Goes Wrong
– my team sucks
– they didn’t execute
– they missed deadlines
– etc.
2. When Things Goes Well
– damn i am good
– damn i have foresight
– damn i am capable
– etc.
Our job as founders
– find the right ppl in the right seat
right ppl being those who are in for the ride with u,
ppl with aligned values, culture.
right seat being in the position that allows them
to shine and thrive.
When things go wrong u’ve either:
– misplaced the talent in the wrong position
– failed to give enough context and
set the right expectation
– brought the wrong ppl on the bus.
either way – u are accountable.
Your job is to empower ur team
– provide a vision for them to row in sync
– provide tools to make their life easy
– provide inspiration for them to
grind through the hard days
u are the biggest cheerleader,
the hardest working water boy.
if and when things go well.
know that u are only lucky enough
to get the lime light.
don’t forget that it takes a whole team
to make something great.
don’t forget to recognize and acknowledge
your unsung heroes
without them, without u.
