Considered one of the top NFT Projects in the industry, Cool Cats NFT has made tremendous strides since its launch in 2021. But with dozens of projects launching every day, many people know little about it.
Below we will do a rundown of what Cool Cats NFTs are and why they were created. We’ll also discover the people behind the project, its road map, and what the public thinks about it.
Let’s dive in.
What is Cool Cats NFT?

Cool cats is a collection of 9,999 randomly generated cartoon cats NFTs hosted on the Ethereum blockchain. Each Cool Cat is made up of various unique features, including over 300,000 possible combinations for body, face, accessories, and outfit attributes.
The project was launched in July 2021 during the wake of the NFT industry and has received much success, which is why it’s considered a blue-chip NFT. Its opening price was 0.06 ETH which saw 300 NFTs sold. The price was then lowered to 0.02 per mint, and within 8 hours, it sold out.
Four cats had been reserved for the staff members and 100 put aside for future competitions and airdrops. The project and surrounding community have grown considerably ever since.
All Cool Cats aren’t made equal. They are divided into 4 groups and awarded points from 3 to 10 based on their rarity.
The basic degree is ‘cool’ while the rarest is the exotic group. Here’s a breakdown
- Cool: 4599 cats – 1999 cats with 3 points and 2600 with 4 points
- Wild: 3000 cats – 1750 cats with 5 points and 1250 cats with 6 points
- Classy: 1750 cats – 1000 cats with 7 points and 750 cats with 8 points
- Exotic: 650 cats – 500 cats with 9 points and 150 cats with 10 points

There are 66 super rare cats that are entirely unique. The rarest cats are those with fully assembled outfits. For instance, a cool cat with a fully assembled pirate costume is considered cooler than one with a pirate head and beanie body.
Owning a Cool Cat comes with several incentives. These include holding an exclusive role in the community Discord, access to airdrops, online and IRL events, and priority minting for all Cool Cats endeavors. One also gets a non-exclusive license of the NFT token.

The Cool Cats NFT project was founded by four members with the pseudonyms Clon, Xtremetom, Lynqoid, and ELU, who share an interest in art and cryptocurrency.
Clon, also known as The catoonist, is Colin Egan, the project’s primary illustrator and originator. He is known for his artwork which depicts a unique style that blends bold and vivid street art and toy art with a classic cartoon sensibility.
He shares his work on his Instagram account, which has over 11,000 followers. His art has been featured in a few publications, including Time Magazine.
Xtremetom is the nickname for Tom Williamson, the blockchain developer for the project who’s responsible for smart contracts and technical interfaces.
Previously Tom and Rob had tried to launch an NFT called Faticorns, a chunky 16-bit arty style NFT project with 10,000 creatures, but it failed. That was before the Cool Cats project was conceived.
Lynqoid’s identity is Rob Mehew, a web developer with HTML, CSS, jQuery, PHP, and WordPress expertise. He is responsible for building and maintaining the website.
He’s the founder of EpicWebs Uk, a blog where he discusses web development and shares tutorials for the same. He had teamed up with Tom to build the Faticorns NFT project before dropping it and joining Colin and Evan for Cool Cats.
Lastly, ELU is Evan Luza, the creative director, marketer, and project manager of Cool Cats. Evan takes a major role in the projects considering his wide experience in branding and marketing.
Previously he worked for Bitcoin.com in their rebranding campaign, which saw the design of the new logo and led a rebrand of all company visual content.
He was also a product designer on the Azure team of Microsoft, senior designer at Blackbox Foundation, and senior Brand designer for Megaport.
The team is doxed as their identity is available to the public. All four team members had already interacted with either art of cryptocurrency and were passionate about each, hence their collaboration to build NFT projects that became wildly successful.
By allocating only one NFT for each, they gave investors confidence in the projects.
The Roadmap of Cool Cats NFT

The Cool Cats roadmap currently extends up to Q3 2022 and contains a variety of ambitious projects. But let’s see how far it has gone.
The project started in Q4 2021 with the launch of a new site with additional functionalities and the long-awaited banner builder. Shortly after, a series of Puzzle games with awards were launched during the Winter Wonderland Festivities.
In Q1 2022, the Cool Pets project was launched, with 19,999 eggs going up for sale. This preceded the Adventurers Guild Launch, which allowed players to earn $MILK. Then a charity event was launched before the second Artist airdrop.
In Q2, the project plans to launch a new gamified utility, release Paper Cats focused on new users and developer onboarding, and launch a story-based system. In addition, a third Artist Spotlight Airdrop and more cool gamified features are planned.
In Q3, the team plans to launch a top-secret project called Myno Mayhem and introduce cool cats voting to determine upcoming events for members.
What is different about Cool Cats NFT?

Cool Cats has been described as the coolest NFT project in the market. Let’s find out why.
The Cool Cats team announced it would airdrop $MILK tokens to all Cool Cat holders. The airdrops are randomized, and the only way to qualify is by having a cool cat in your wallet.
Yet there are speculations that factors such as time of holding could be influencing the randomness.
MILK is the currency for the Cool Cats ecosystem and is speculated to have staking functionality or to be the currency for the incoming Cool Cat Metaverse.
One holder on Discord claims in the game, cats can interact with one another, change their home islands, and use milk tokens to buy clothing and gear. In addition, the team is working to enable metaverse interaction which will allow cats to move from metaverse to metaverse.
As with other digital cats NFTs, such as Crypto Kitties, it would be expected that a breeding feature exists. However, this concept is yet to be applied in Cool Cats.
Nevertheless, there are speculations that holders with two or more cats can combine them and generate a second-generation cool cat with shared straits from the parent cats.
The team also launched the Cool Pets, a companion NFT series to coincide with Cool Cats. This was an expansion effort to bring more people on board the Cool Cats community.
Other NFT projects that have also gone through this route to capitalize on demand and expand include BAYC, Thingies, and KingFrogs.

Like other popular NFTs, Cool Cats has a strong community which has stuck with them from the very beginning. And from just a few IRL events and the recent signing with CAA, they proved that their coolness isn’t hasn’t tapered off.
First, the project sold out within a short time after launch, and the floor price of Cool Cats has increased and been steady above 6 Eth.
Secondly, Mike Tyson endorsed the project eight days after by buying a Cool Cat and making it his Twitter PFP. This action tremendously increased the brand awareness of the project and solidified its prominent position in the NFT community.
